Dear Christ Church Community,
Now as we come to the setting of the sun,
and our eyes behold the vesper light,
we sing your praises, O God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The summer is moving along quickly.
We want to pause and say “thank you” for your continued support of the annual fund at Christ Church. We’re grateful that giving during our transition time has been consistent. Your steadfastness has kept the church, parish hall and ministries operating smoothly. The new roof is nearly finished and looks wonderful. The work was completed on time and our Buildings and Grounds Committee members are very pleased with the quality of work done. This summer, we have also had to attend to several emergencies, including repair of two air conditioning units and a malfunctioning refrigerator in the Parish Hall.
We have much to be thankful for at Christ Church. Most especially, we are thankful for the people who take good care of our church and perform important tasks on our behalf. The Vestry puts in much thoughtful effort and time to steer our church in the right direction. The Altar Guild members not only provide the beautiful flowers for Sunday worship services, but make sure we have Eucharist wafers and wine, polish the brass, iron the linens, and more.
Robert Oppermann, Brad Reeves and Herbie Redmond keep the Church and Parish Hall grass cut, the lights on, and the buildings open for our use. Crystal Spranger, our Parish Administrator, has done an outstanding job keeping the Parish Hall rented in recent months in addition to running the parish office. And, finally we are thankful for our LEMs, acolytes, lectors and refreshment hosts for their commitment to Sunday worship service support; for Larry Whitbeck and our choir members; and for our Parish Aid coordinator, Shelby Oppermann.
On September 1, we will welcome our Priest in Charge, the Reverend Christopher I. Wilkins. Please join us in welcoming Rev. Wilkins and celebrating our homecoming weekend at a luncheon reception outside of the church following the special 9:30 service on Sunday, September 4. We will have one service on that Sunday. We invite everyone to come and bring a friend, neighbor, or family member.
